Care and Cleaning
Regular vacuuming helps rugs retain their beauty and extends the life of the rug. It is important with Shag-type rugs that clear be taken to protect the cable yarn. Long yarns will tend to wrap around the beater-bars and the brushes will damage the fiber. Because of this, you may have to purchase a rug rake and disconnect the beater-bar (consult your vacuum owners manual or contact the manufacturer). With the beater-bar disconnected, set the vacuum to the lowest height setting to get the best suction. Rake the carpet first to loosen the soil and then follow with the vacuum.
Follow the regular vacuuming schedule. In light to medium traffic areas vacuum twice weekly. In the heavy traffic areas, vacuum daily.
Clean spills immediately; blot with a clean cloth, spot clean with a solution of clear dish washing detergent and water. (1/4 tsp to 1 quart of warm water), rinse with water and blot dry. Do not dry clean and do not bleach. BLOT ONLY!! Do not rub or scrub!
For standard area rugs:
Professional cleaning is recommended periodically using the hot water extraction method.
Patterns may differ slightly by rug shape or size.
